Determined to be the best salesperson within the ophthalmic lenses industry? Our client is looking for a Business Development Manager / Area Sales Manager to grow sales across the South Central territory. You’ll be responsible for developing sales of their ophthalmic lens portfolio across independent, lab, regional, and national channels, with a focus on winning new doors, growing active accounts, and improving product mix across your customer base.

This role will suit someone who is naturally competitive, commercially sharp, and confident in managing a field-based territory. Who’s it for and what’s in it for you?
This market-leading ophthalmic company has employees singing their praises - they are continually described as an open and caring culture that values the welfare of both employees and customers who use their premium technical lenses. They're looking for enthusiastic people with a can-do attitude, and in return, they'll offer you a great place to grow your career.

They’re all about giving their people the opportunity to grow. And they’re focused on developing, promoting and retaining their people. How that manifests? Expect an open feedback culture, plenty of opportunities to advance your career, and professional development to support your future goals.

What will your day to day look like?
As Business Development Manager / Area Sales Manager, you’ll be responsible for increasing sales of the company’s lens products across your territory in line with agreed targets. Your day to day could include:

  • Achieving and exceeding sales targets across your specified territory
  • Winning new doors and growing active accounts across independent, lab, regional, and national channels
  • Building strong customer relationships through regular calls, follow-up, and ongoing account support
  • Training customers on product features, benefits, sales techniques, and how to improve product mix
  • Providing technical and optical support to customers where needed
  • Preparing clear objectives for each sales call and following company sales processes
  • Analysing performance data and managing your activity in line with territory goals
  • Planning your journey, time, and territory effectively to maximise sales opportunities
  • Supporting agreed local promotions, incentives, and marketing activity to drive growth

This is a strong opportunity to develop your career in ophthalmic lens sales, build a successful territory, and continue growing your product, optical, and commercial knowledge within a well-established market leader.

This role will suit you if you…

  • Have field-based sales experience and/or in-practice dispensing experience
  • Have experience working with ophthalmic lenses, dispensing optics, or the wider optical market
  • Are based in or around Cambridgeshire / Bedfordshire  and can travel across the territory regularly
  • Are results-oriented, competitive, and motivated to achieve and exceed sales targets
  • Can build strong customer relationships with a persuasive and professional communication style
  • Are confident presenting and training customers one-to-one and in group settings
  • Can work independently, manage your own diary, and plan your territory effectively
  • Have strong administration skills and a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Are commercially aware and able to use sales data to guide activity and improve performance
