You’ve built a strong accounting foundation, but you’re ready to move beyond purely transactional work. You want broader exposure, more responsibility, and the chance to understand how finance supports the wider performance of a manufacturing business.

As Accounting Controller, you’ll oversee areas including financial reporting, billing, payroll, budgeting, and day-to-day accounting activity. You’ll also supervise team members, making sure work is accurate, deadlines are met, and the finance function runs smoothly.

This is a good fit for someone collaborative, dependable, and comfortable taking responsibility. If you’re looking to broaden your commercial finance experience while developing your leadership skills in a manufacturing environment, this could be a strong next step.

Who’s it for and what’s in it for you?
Our client specialises in the design and production of engineered heating, cooling and refrigeration systems. Operating through several specialised divisions, our client produces custom HVAC and refrigeration equipment used in industries such as food storage, data centres, energy and manufacturing.

With its company’s values of continuous improvement, collaboration and employee empowerment, our client provides the best service to not just its systems but it’s staff. They prove this through fostering a genuinely positive work environment, as well as providing a benefits package designed to improve their people’s work and life. This includes generous PTO, comprehensive health coverage, and 401k matching from day one.

What will your day to day look like?
As Controller, you’ll lead the accounting function within a manufacturing business, overseeing financial reporting, budgeting and controls. Reporting to the CFO, you’ll manage the team and provide financial insight to support operational improvements and business decisions.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Preparing and overseeing financial statements, budgets, forecasts and regulatory reports.
  • Managing employees responsible for accounting, billing, payroll and financial reporting.
  • Developing internal controls and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and relevant regulations.
  • Coordinating audits, tax planning and annual tax returns, working with external accountants where required.
  • Overseeing cash management, payments, banking activities and payroll deductions.
  • Analysing financial performance to identify opportunities for improvement and advise management on short- and long-term objectives.
  • Maintaining relationships with banks, insurers and external accounting partners.
  • Supporting departmental budget management and developing the accounting team through training and guidance.

This role will suit you if you…
  • Hold a bachelor’s degree and bring three to seven years of relevant experience.
  • Have a strong understanding of accounting, financial reporting, budgeting and internal controls.
  • Are confident leading a team, delegating responsibilities and supporting staff development.
  • Bring strong analytical and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to translate financial information into practical recommendations.
  • Have advanced computer skills and are comfortable using financial systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Communicate clearly and work collaboratively with colleagues across different departments.
  • Take an accurate, organised approach to financial management and compliance.

Previous manufacturing experience and a CPA qualification would be advantageous.
