We’re attending 100% Optical 2022!

By Natasha Szombara

After three years, FMC Meditech is finally heading back to an event! We’re looking forward to attending 100% Optical for the first time since its merger with Optrafair back in 2020.

After what seems like forever, FMC Meditech is finally heading back to an event!

Following the 2020 merger of Optrafair and 100% Optical, we’re looking forward to returning to London’s ExcCeL later this month to discover what the UK’s largest optical event has in store, as well as meeting with other attendees.

With the FMO’s (Federation Of Manufacturing Opticians) full backing of 100% Optical, this year’s event has “huge potential to take 100% Optical forwards, grow attendance levels, increase the diversity of content, and make it an even more unmissable date in the UK and international optical calendar,” says Nathan Garnett, event director of 100% Optical.

What are we expecting?

Over the years, we have attended, exhibited and reviewed several events, including both 100% Optical and Optrafair. In the years leading up to the pandemic, we noticed the event beginning to lose touch with its traditionally technology-based format, leaning more towards frames and eyewear.

With 100% Optical having a history of fashion-heavy exhibitors, it’ll be interesting to see how much tech will be on display under this new format.

So, what tech are we looking forward to seeing?

Heidelberg is set to showcase its new SPECTRALIS with SHIFT technology – the first commercially available OCT that allows clinicians to switch between 20, 85 and 125 kHz A-scan rates.

Hoya is driving Myopia awareness with the Eye Care We Care scheme, which aims to support eye care professionals to help educate their communities about eye care and increase awareness of vision care for children.

The event will also welcome Essilor and Luxottica with their much-anticipated launches of the Stellest ophthalmic lens and the Myopia Expert 700 with digital solution Myopia Care designed to detect, follow, and monitor the progression of refraction and axial length.

Mainline Instruments will be displaying too be displaying a market first with its TrueColour confocal scanner.

And finally, we’re anticipating a lot of buzz around Occuity and its first ever UK preview of the Occuity PM1 Pachymeter, the world’s first handheld, non-contact, optical pachymeter.

Fancy a chat?

The team will be available to speak to throughout the day on Monday 25th April about a number of topics, including (but not limited to!):

  • Insight on salary trends, bonus structures and benefits packages in the eye care space
  • How brands are being perceived in the market
  • What is motivating eye care professionals to move roles
  • Recruitment trends in the ophthalmic space
