Medical Technology 2025 Wrap Up

By Sam Lingwood

2025 has proven to be yet another interesting year within medical technology. Let's take a brisk walk down memory lane.

Throughout the year, our brilliant team of recruitment consultants have been heavily involved in building out teams and filling senior roles in medical technology companies across the globe. We're proud of the role we play in moving the industry forward year-on-year, so we wanted to take a moment to celebrate the year we've had and share our thoughts ahead of our festive shutdown.

What has happened in 2025

This has been a year for Confidential Searches, with a number of clients in the space needing top secret headhunting to source their next leader from Operations to Marketing. Given the name, we can't give anything away about these searches, but the team have really enjoyed working on filling these senior positions. Uncovering top talent and seeing the immediate impact they have made in the role has been a real highlight of our year.

Our team has had a lot of success across the PE world this year! This has brought a fun challenge to our consultants who have helped build out commercial, marketing, and operations teams in a range of different areas, helping to kick start organisations on the brink of high-growth periods.

It's also fair to say that companies have been more risk-averse this year; candidates have had to be on their A game in order to secure an offer. With companies needing to fully assess candidates before sending out an offer, we've seen recruitment processes get longer and longer over 2025. These extra stages has led to more candidates than usual losing interest and dropping out of processes. We expect a shift in this pattern come 2026.

And we can't talk about 2025 without mentioning the sharp rise in AI tools popping up in the industry. Whilst AI doesn't come without its critics, I believe that some of the best and most exciting developments around AI are happening within the medical technology industry. We're seeing products coming out that will play a major role in improving patient outcomes and, most importantly, saving lives.

Notable placements from the year

We made a number of key, senior placements across 2025. These placements inherently come with an extra layer of complexity, whether that be the confidential element or a niche pool of talent to take from. Here is a list of some of these that we are proudest of across the year:

  • Vice President of Marketing
  • Head of Sales
  • QARA Manager
  • Head of People & Culture
  • Head of Operations

A wide range of senior positions, to say the least. As well as these, we've also placed a number of great candidates into other roles all year. I would list them all out, but we don't want to keep you here all day…

Where has the team been this year?

The importance of meeting our clients face-to-face cannot be understated. In order to access cultural fit, we need to know our clients inside out, and we are committed to investing in these relationships.
There's hardly an area in the UK our team hasn't travelled to this year! Here's a short rundown of the events we've attended in 2025:

  • Adam started the year strong by visiting 100% Optical in London, making strides in a relatively new market for him
  • Charlotte C, Charlotte A, and Hannah all took a trip to Coventry to attend EBME Expo in June
  • Adam travelled up to Liverpool for his yearly attendance of UKIO, and it was his best one yet!
  • The two Charlottes also ventured up North to Manchester for Healthcare Estates in October
  • And finally, Adam very recently attended BMUS in Harrogate for the first time

These events are on top of a number of client visits over the course of the year, and even a few networking events held at golf courses!

Moments of celebration in the team

Starting off the year, we welcomed Tommy into the fold as a Recruiter! Bringing with him previous Medical Technology recruitment experience, it's no surprise that he stepped into this role well and it didn’t take long at all for him to start delivering results. So much so that, as of January, he will officially be promoted to Senior Recruiter! What a way to end a brilliant first year at FMC.

We also welcomed Frankie back to the team after she finished her maternity leave. It's never an easy feat getting back into the swing of things after a lengthy time away from recruitment, but Frankie hasn't missed a beat. The team and the whole company were super pleased to welcome back her strong performances and positive vibes.

There's only one more thing left to say. We hope you all have a fantastic festive season, and we look forward to placing even more top candidates into top roles in the new year!
