FMC Talent's 2024 Round-up

By Lizi Tween

2024 has felt a little bit blink-and-you'll-miss-it, don't you think?

It doesn't seem like two minutes ago since we did our last annual round-up in December of last year, but as creatures of habit and with a fondness for nostalgia we're doing it again.

From promotions to new hires, the FMC Talent team has seen some real growth over the past 12 months. And when we've not been busy recruiting (or doing the behind the scenes stuff that helps our recruiters to recruit!), we've been learning, baking and petting our many wonderful office pooches.

January to March

We got the ball rolling in January straight away by welcoming Sam into our Marketing team as a Content Marketing Coordinator, starting the year off strong with a fantastic new addition to the Lincoln office.

In Feb, our Meditech team headed off to one of their favourite events of the year - 100% Ophthalmology. They've been that many times at this point that they're basically VIPs!

March was a busy one. I headed off to the University of Nottingham to do a talk at their Women in Engineering Society, and we celebrated a duo of promotions. Beth was promoted to Brand Manager, and Hannah was promoted to 360 Account Manager - what a great way to round off the first quarter of the year!

April to June

Quickly following the two promotions in March, Sarah made it promotion number three for the year when she was promoted to Senior Recruiter. Her, Frankie and Beth celebrated by going for a (very windy) walk up Mam Tor on one of their reactive Fridays, a cracking use of our four day week!

We had two celebrations from our Marketing team in April. Gemma, our Group Marketing Director, achieved Chartered status with the CIM, something that's no mean feat, and Sam graduated from his Master's degree.

There was also some international travel in April, when Sefi and Mo headed over to Germany to meet with one of our clients, Systech.

We couldn't mention April without shouting out our Medical Technology Director Ryan who ran the London marathon for JDRF, raising over £4,500. Ryan, we're so proud of you.

In May Frankie passed her CMI Level 3 Award in Principles of Management and Leadership at the University of Lincoln, a massive achievement. Jack, our Marketing Administrator, also represented FMC at the Notts Forest City Ground at an event put on by Ideagen - even managing to bag himself a goal!

And to end Q2, in June we had a busy month for industry events with three in the calendar. Our Meditech team headed off to UKIO, and members of our Smart Industry team showed their faces at both the Smart Factory Expo (Kim, Sefi, Justin & Zak) and Digital Construction Week (Joe, Callum & Hannah).

We also had another brilliant educational milestone hit, this time with Sefi who passed her REC Level 4 Diploma in Recruitment Management. Amazing stuff!

We tied the quarter up with two well-deserved promotions from our Commercial team, with Kelsi being promoted to Finance & Commercial Assistant, and Keely to Office & Fleet Coordinator. We also had a recruitment-team promotion, with Grace getting promoted to Senior Recruiter.

July to September

We started Q3 with a bang. Gemma was promoted to Group Marketing Director and Jack was promoted to 360 Account Manager, both hugely well-deserved promotions. We also welcomed two new team members to the Bristol office in July. Phil joined our Motorsports & Clean Propulsion team and Svas joined our Smart Industry team.

There was more getting out-and-about for our recruitment teams too, with Sefi heading off to Farnborough International Airshow.

August and September brought along even more promotions! John was promoted to Senior Recruiter, Andy and Charlotte both got promoted to 360 Account Manager, and Sefi was promoted to Senior Account Manager. A huge well done to all of them!

September also included a feature on a podcast for our Marketing Director Gemma. She got chatting on The Lonely Marketer's podcast, and if you fancy a listen you can catch it here: https://lnkd.in/erhT4Msk

At the end of September we also hosted our annual FMC Bake Off for our Macmillan Coffee Morning. We raised £333 and enjoyed eating the huge variety of treats our star bakers brought in!

October to December

And just like that the last quarter of the year was upon us. It started with Charlotte and Charlotte (Charlotte2) heading to Healthcare Estates in Manchester back in October where they got to meet with loads of contacts in the medical technology space.

Then we welcomed Milly and Yazz to our Lincoln office. Milly joined our Medical Technology team, and Yazz joined Joe and his Digital Construction team. It was a real baptism of fire for one of them, with Milly heading to IIC 2024 on her second day! Talk about immersing yourself straight into your market.

September was a month of educational milestones for our Marketing team. Abi successfully passed her Email Marketing Strategy Level 6 qualification with the DMA, and Beth passed her CIM L6 Diploma in Professional Marketing with a merit, after putting in a year of hard work and evening classes.

In October Justin headed stateside to spend a few days meeting our clients on the other side of the pond. Based out of Boston for the duration of his trip, he got to meet with lots of contacts on the trip (as well as eating a number of pizza slices and wandering round the grounds of Harvard).

I also cycled 127 miles (that's an average of 4 a day) in October to raise money for a cause that's very close to all of our hearts, Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM), managing to raise £740 for CALM - a big thanks to all who donated for supporting me!

In November, Sefi and Lola went back to school. Well, sort of. They headed off to a local Bristol school's careers fair to talk about life at FMC. As well as that, Joe grew a mustache and moved over 100km - a combo of running, swimming, and cycling - for Movember, raising over £800 in the process. Go Joe!

And as for December, well, we headed off to Eastington Park down in Gloucestershire (well, down for our Lincoln office, ever so slightly up for our Portishead one!) for our annual Christmas party. It was full of fun, dancing, photobooth snaps, and even a quiz win for one of our tables. It's safe to say we saw another fantastic year out in true FMC style.

Phew! It's been a whirlwind of a year and we think we speak on behalf of everyone at FMC when we say we can't wait to see what the next brings.
