‘Dragon can be seen in the sky, on the ground, and under the water. It likes to hide behind the clouds in the sky. It’s a mysterious, emotional, energetic, majestic and intelligent creature’

Happy Chinese New Year! Today begins the Year of the Dog. Today, however, we’re not talking about 2018, we’re going all the way back to 1988.

In 1988 the world welcomed in the Chinese Year of the Dragon. That same year the world welcomed us, FMC. Coincidence? We don’t think so.

Dragons are smart, ambitious, hard-working…

They have sharp minds and lots of initiative. We like to think these characteristics sound familiar, as they are the characteristics we pride ourselves on having at FMC. So whilst we wouldn’t normally go around calling our staff ‘dragons’, in this context we think it’s justified. A compliment, even.

Dragons are powerful

As the only mythical beast in the Chinese Zodiac, Dragons are seen as the most powerful beast of them all.  Apparently, they could control the world if they wanted to! Whilst we at FMC don’t have our sights set on world domination, it’s nice to know we could if we fancied it.

Dragons embrace challenges and take risks…

We don’t like to rest on our laurels, and neither do Dragons. Dragons are known to have the desire for success, and are eager to embrace challenges and take risks to get there, much like we do here. All of us at FMC aim high, and try our hardest to achieve our goals. Dragons are likely to achieve success too, so we’re hopeful we’ll have this too.

Blue and green should never be seen (by Dragons)

Dragons are told to avoid the colours green and blue at all costs. Funnily enough, these are two colours associated with the FMC branding. And whilst this probably isn’t the best news we’ve ever heard, we’re going to hedge our bets and not order a mass redecoration of our offices just yet.

And, finally, we’re in good company…

We sit alongside a host of famous dragons. We can’t sing like John Lennon, we’re not about to out-act Sandra Bullock to her next Golden Globe, and we definitely won’t have an arena of people in hysterics like Lee Evans. But, what we can do is fill fantastic jobs with fabulous people!

You too could join our league of Dragons, we’re recruiting in both Bristol and Lincoln! To find out more about working for FMC, click here.
