Our client is looking for a strategic thinker to lead their Superconductor Research Centre, as Head of R&D, as they want to build a high-performance team full of the best talent in the industry. If you have previous success in managing the full product lifecycle and want to use your expert knowledge to make exciting advancements in the industry, then this could be the role for you.

What you’ll be doing 
As Head of R&D, you will be leading their world leading Superconductor Research Centre and developing a strategic roadmap that fits within the overall business strategy.

Your day to day might look a little like this:
•    Building a high-performance R&D team, attracting and retaining the best talent from the industry and encouraging further professional development
•    Fostering a culture of constant collaboration with other internal teams, including manufacturing and regulatory, to ensure seamless product integration
•    Sharing and exchanging technical knowledge with other R&D teams across the organisation
  
A bit about you
Ideally, you’ll be based in the UK, but full relocation packages can be discussed for the right candidate.

You’ll have a PHD or Master’s degree in a relevant field of study, such as Physics, Engineering or Materials Science.

A few other key skills we are looking for:
•    A minimum of 10 years’ experience working within R&D, with 5 of those years being in a leadership role specialising with magnets and similar technology
•    A proven track record of managing the complete product lifecycle in a regulated industry, ideally medical devices
•    Specialised knowledge in superconducting magnets and a desire to become a true industry expert in this area
•    Familiarity with product development methodologies and regulatory compliance
•    A strategic thinker. Someone that is able to think long-term about key decisions in the team
