Do you want to bring your background in Motorsport Simulation to revolutionise new automotive technology? Our client is seeking an ambitious and analytical Head of Modelling & Simulation to join their team in the Central US. 

The company 

FMC Auto Innovation is supporting a client at the pinnacle of US Motorsport, with a track record of podiums, poles and championships under their belt. This is an exciting time to join their team as they seek to amp up their competitive position with a focus transforming their current vehicle dynamics. 

The role 

As Head of Modelling & Simulation, you’ll determine the scope of simulation activities for the team and define clear, robust approaches to creating component models, from aerodynamics and tires to the complete vehicle, that provide clear performance predictions. Your programming expertise will be crucial to improving the existing software structure and pushing the capabilities of the team forward. 

Other responsibilities include: 

  • Growing and managing a team of junior engineers 

  • Creating stable and correlated models 

  • Evaluating, analysing and tracking vehicle performance 

  • Developing sustainable solutions to repair issues 

  • Deliver on projects on time and to budget

  • Working in accordance to processes and safety requirements 

The requirements 

The successful candidate will have strong (5+ years’) experience in a Motorsport Simulation environment with proven success of improving vehicle performance, as well as: 

  • Degree educated in Physics, Mathematics or a relevant Engineering field 

  • Experience of simulation engineering within F1 is desirable 

  • Strong knowledge of numerical methods, control theory and vehicle dynamics 

  • Demonstrable ability to utilise a high-level programming language (such as MATLAB) 

  • Detail-oriented, analytical and curious 

  • Innovative and able to resolve challenges  

  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) 

  • Driven team player 

  • High level of motivation, flexibility, and personal commitment 

  • Flexible and willing to travel up to 25%
