Our client is looking for a highly motivated Director of Business Development – Renewables to join their expanding team remotely across the US and accelerate their next stage of growth. If you have a track record of top quota achievement over a multi-year timeframe selling SaaS solutions to renewable energy operators, please get in touch.

Our client delivers a self-service SaaS solution currently blazing the IoT space, which is the fastest-growing market globally. They help to solve some of the world’s greatest problems around energy, water, and other natural resources.  

The role

As a Director of Business Development - Renewables, you will be responsible for expanding their sales pipeline by selling their solution portfolio to existing Renewable Energy prospects. You will work closely with Client Engineering, Client Success, and Management to create, qualify, and close new revenue.

Responsibilities include:

  • Developing a thorough understanding of our client’s product portfolio

  • Developing and closing new clients that exceed revenue targets

  • Meeting quarterly and annual sales quotes through sales execution

  • Building an understanding of the buying dynamics of the Energy industry  

  • Working on sales priorities, targets, strategies, and pipeline management

  • Managing, tracking, and reporting daily on all sales activity in the CRM system

The requirements

You’ll have 5-10+ years of software sales experience or sales engineering experience in software sales in the Renewable Energy space, as well as…

  • Degree educated in engineering is preferred 

  • Experience within a Performance Engineering, Asset Manager or O&M role  

  • Familiarity with SaaS, Cloud and Enterprise Software solutions 

  • Strong technical aptitude  

  • Ability to learn new concepts quickly and explain complex information simply

  • Strong prospecting skills including outbound cold calling, email, social media etc. 

  • Knowledge of analytics, fleet monitoring solutions, asset management solutions and SCADA systems 

  • Track record of annual sales overachievement  

  • Self-starter, team orientated 

  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) 

  • Strong time management skills, able to prioritise effectively and meet deadlines

  • Prior experience using a CRM system and pipeline management
