Want to work for a people-first company who are pushing the boundaries in the eye care world? Our client is looking for an Area Sales Manager to join their team and look after their North and Midlands territory.

A bit about the company and what they can offer you

Our client is looking for someone willing to step outside their comfort zone and push the boundaries of ophthalmic and optometric technology. It's how they've become a leading distributor of anterior and posterior diagnostic equipment including OCT, slit lamp, fundus imaging and myopia management devices to name a few. They’re a smaller player in the market but, make no mistake, they pack a punch! They’re making waves in the market through their products, their approach, and their people.

Speaking of people, they’re all about having a people-centric culture. You’re in good hands in this team, with your development being supported from the second you step foot in the door (as well as getting a great benefits package, including a solid bonus scheme). They’re a growing company too, having recently completed a new acquisition – hence why they’re hiring for this position – so it’s a perfect time to be joining the business.

What you’ll be doing

This is a sales role, so as you can imagine you’ll be focused on developing new accounts and driving repeat business in existing ones for a portfolio of ophthalmic products. Your strategic skills will come into play too, as you’ll be tasked with developing strategic sales plans that’ll help achieve the targets for the North and midlands regions. Success in this role is all about hitting targets, opening accounts, and making sure customer satisfaction is at the heart of everything you do.

Your day to day might look a little like this:
  • Rolling out a sales plan/strategy for the region
  • Finding a new potential customer
  • Working with ophthalmologists, optometrists and eye clinics
  • Demonstrating products to clients
  • Making sure all customers are happy with the service provided
  • Delivering sales forecasts to the NSM and Sales Director

A bit about you

Ideally, you’ll have done a sales role in an aligned industry so will have a good clinical understanding and a knowledge of the NHS/private healthcare environments. A solid understanding of ophthalmic diagnostic equipment will also set you up for success in this role!

A few other key skills we’re looking for:
  • A good understanding of how to sell capital devices
  • Strong relationship-building skills
  • Able to use CRM systems
  • Able to manage sales pipelines
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Able to negotiate and close sales

This role is field-based, so you’ll also need a valid driving licence, with the ability to travel across the territory regularly.
