Hannover Messe 2022 - Justin's review

Hannover Messe 2022 – Justin’s review

Last week, FMC Smart Industry attended Hannover Messe 2022 in Germany – here’s my thoughts on the event!

Following a few years of being unable to attend events, myself and my colleagues, Kimberly Wellen and William Adamthwaite, headed to Germany last week to attend Hannover Messe 2022.

As one of the most important dates in the calendar for the industry, it is the place to be for those working in digital transformation and Industry 4.0 space – and we were thrilled that it lived up to our expectations.

What did we make of it?

Getting fully immersed in the markets we work in is one of our favourite things to do, and Hannover Messe provided just that. It gave us the opportunity to network with people in the space, see the technologies in action, and demonstrate our knowledge of the market too. The trip was incredibly valuable so a week and a bit on from the event I wanted to reflect on my thoughts…

Meeting face to face (not screen to screen)

At FMC we find it incredibly insightful to be able to meet with individuals in person. The last few years haven’t allowed an awful lot of that to happen – in fact it’s been practically impossible – but Hannover Messe gave us a fantastic opportunity to reconnect with people face to face.

Over three days, myself and the team met with Cognite, Element AI, Drishti, Relayr, Crosser, GE Digital, Litmus Automation, Senseye, Augury, Sensata Technologies, Schneider Electric, Treon, ANSYS, Sight Machine, Seeq and Machine Metrics – all of which are making waves in the space. A particular highlight of mine was meeting with Evgeny Fedotov, SVP and Head of EMEA region at AVEVA.

Alongside meeting with existing clients, the networking opportunities were second to none and it was amazing to do this in person.

Getting the down-low

As well as the opportunity to meet with people face to face, one of the other main reasons FMC likes to attend exhibitions is for the seminars which often reveal the latest trends and industry insight.

A particular highlight for me was Schneider unveiling a range of offers and partnerships, one of which being with AVEVA, with a single aim to accelerate the path to net-zero CO2 emissions for customers and partners.

We always like to stay up to date with the latest developments in the digital transformation space so being able to hear about new technologies across the three days was incredibly insightful.

Our overall opinion?

It’s easy to see why Hannover Messe is hailed as one of the best events in the market. As a team, we found the event hugely beneficial and it was fantastic to see some of the technology from our space in action, as well as meeting with our all-important existing relationships and help to build new ones.

We’re already looking forward to attending our next event!
