Our client’s innovative cloud platform is on a high growth trajectory and is now seeking a VP of Software to join their team in the US. This is an excellent opportunity to lead key software development and drive innovation across the organisation.

FMC’s Digital Plant team are working in partnership with a unique and expert provider of simulation and modelling applications for the industrial markets including oil and gas, chemicals, water/wastewater and more. Having grown quickly, their solutions are already utilised by engineers in over 30 countries and by hundreds of leading engineering organisations to optimise process design. Their solutions are favoured by governments, researchers, students, and academic environments to solve complex chemistry challenges thanks to their reliability, accuracy, and effectiveness.

 

The role

As VP of Software, you will work alongside the current VP Software to co-run a high-quality team of 12 people and work to develop and grow the team to 20 within the next year. You will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of software development, including research, design, architecture, testing and deployment.  

Other responsibilities include:

  • Continuous testing of software and identifying areas for development  

  • Improving efficiencies to speed up development  

  • Collaborating with other senior executives to ensure the successful delivery 

  • Staying current with emerging technologies and industry trends 

  • Ensuring resources are allocated efficiently and effectively  

  • Fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement  

  • Complying with industry best practices and standards 

 
The requirements

Our client is looking for a senior individual with 10-15+ years of experience in the industry, as well as…

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline (or equivalent experience)

  • Basic understanding of coding and a background as a developer is desired 

  • Business acumen 

  • Experience in a start-up environment 

  • Strong leadership and people management skills 

  • Track record of building and managing high-performing software development teams 

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills 

  • Familiarity with cloud-based platforms and technologies  

  • Strategic thinking and ability to see the bigger picture 

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
