Our client, an innovative green aviation start-up focuses on integrating hydrogen storage tanks, fuel cell systems, and electric motors to deliver a solution that will be not only without carbon emissions, but also cheaper to operate. They are looking for a Thermal Motor Design Engineer to join their team in the US.  

The role 

As a Thermal Motor Design Engineer, you’ll be responsible for the development of thermal and fluid distribution networks for 1D and 3D models. You will also analyse and verify designs with analytical calculations and numerical (FEA/CFD).  

Responsibilities include:  

• Incorporating experimental techniques in product design and testing 

• Performing lab tests including test equipment and processing data  

• Refining models using tested data 

• Collaborating with other team members of engineering staff 

• Ensuring timely completion of project deliverables 

• Performing a variety of tasks and development activities  

• Participating in suppliers’ meetings  

The requirements 

You will have demonstrable experience in mechanical structure design applied to electric motors, as well as…  

• Degree level educated in a relevant subject  

• Experience in finite element modelling and analyses codes 

• Experience and knowledge of engine static strength analysis methods 

• Knowledge of maintenance and repair practices used in the aerospace industry 

• Proficient in load and fatigue analysis  

• Experience in stress analysis of metallic structure/frame 

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills 

• Experience with structural analysis methods and repair principles  

• Experience in MatLab/Simulink
