One of their core markets is the testing of parts for automotive OEMs and tier suppliers, testing combustion engines, powertrains and more. They are incredibly well respected in the powertrain industry and this is an area of huge growth for the company.

The role

As Test Technician you’ll support our client’s development of their EV propulsion test capabilities by maximising operational efficiency by supporting propulsion test programmes.

Responsibilities include:

• Operating test rigs outside of normal office hours
• Using defined test methods and scripts
• Implementing safe work systems
• Supporting the debugging and commissioning of complex electronic systems
• Generating valid data in line with customer requirements
• Calibrating test equipment in line with company regulations
• Maintaining the efficiency of the facility operations
• Supporting rig and cell mechanical/electronic assembly and disassembly
• Working with multi-phase electrical applications and power analyser test equipment
• Interpreting CAD drawings for rigging
• Working closely with stakeholders across the business
• Working with the powertrain testing team to gain technical input and execute test procedures

The requirements

You’ll have at least 2 years’ experience working in a powertrain testing facility. Other requirements include:

• Vocational qualification in a mechanical or electrical engineering discipline (extensive experience considered as an alternative)
• Adaptable and eager to learn
• Able to produce clear documentation for processes
• Excellent knowledge of health and safety processes
• Able to interpret CAD and technical drawings
• Knowledge of EV powertrains, batteries and hybrids desirable
• Knowledge of AC and DC electrical systems desirable
• Strong communication skills (both written and verbal)
