One of their core markets is the testing of parts for automotive OEMs and tier suppliers, testing combustion engines, powertrains and more. They are incredibly well respected in the powertrain industry and this is an area of huge growth for the company.

The role

As Test Engineer you’ll ensure that customer projects are delivered to the very highest standards. You’ll be interpreting customer project needs and requirements and carrying out the test and development activities associated with them to meet project objectives on time and in budget.

Responsibilities include:

• Carrying out test and development activities for customer projects
• Reporting on project objectives
• Delivering customer projects on schedule and to cost and quality standards
• Writing and modifying test methods for performance and durability testing for EVs
• Installing and validating data measurement systems
• Debugging and commissioning complex electronics systems
• Working on the specification and installation of AC and DC electrical systems
• Engineering ancillary systems to support testing requirements
• Supporting the implementation of EV powertrain testing safety procedures
• Supporting mechanical and electrical assembly and disassembly
• Being an expert on high-precision power analyser test equipment
• Working closely with other business units and teams

The requirements

You’ll have at least 3 years’ experience in a customer facing, powertrain testing role. Other requirements include:

• Degree-level education in an engineering subject (ideally in an electrical or automotive discipline)
• Excellent knowledge of EV powertrains, batteries, and hybrid systems
• Experience of EV powertrain or hybrid system testing
• Knowledge of AC and DC electrical systems
• Strong communication skills (both written and verbal)
• Able to mentor other members of the team
• Strong technical knowledge and ability
• Able to interpret technical drawings
• Experience using coding to script test methods
• Health and safety awareness
• Good commercial acumen
• Able to drive continuous improvement and strive for innovation
• Exceptional customer service skills
• Organised and meticulous, able to manage multiple projects
