Do you have experience within an EV automotive environment? Our client is looking for a Technical Specialist – Legislation & Certification Principal Engineer to join their team in the West Midlands.  

 
The company

Our client design, manufacture and sell advanced single and double deck buses within the automotive market. They have developed a range of low-carbon buses with optimised drive systems, setting the benchmark for fuel economy and CO2 reduction. Their lightweight engineering, premium service and low running costs all contribute to these advanced passenger vehicles designed for a global market.

 
The role

As a Technical Specialist, you will lead legislative change as well as providing legislative technical guidance. You will work to develop Compliance Strategy for Autonomous vehicle ADAS requirements, safety requirements, EV and Battery Type Approval and maintain current product compliance.  

Responsibilities include:

  • Managing current and planning future regulatory compliance  

  • Supporting concept system selections  

  • Advising design and engineering teams of affected legislation 

  • Presenting high-level summaries to the senior leadership team 

  • Ensuring compliance with all legislation  

 

The requirements

You will have Legislation and Certification experience in the automotive or commercial vehicle industry, as well as…

  • Degree level educated in an Automotive, Mechanical or Electrical engineering field

  • Experience of Electric and Hybrid vehicles and battery type approval  

  • Able to lead future regulatory compliance and legislative changes across global markets 

  • Customer focused mindset

  • Provide balanced solutions for clear decision making

  • Competent in generating and presenting technical material

  • Analytical with strong attention to detail

  • Self-starter with an ability to work in a start-up environment  

  • Comfortable working with direct and non-direct reports 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
