A unique company offering revolutionary refrigeration technologies are looking for a Technical Buyer to join their Supply Chain and Procurement team in the UK.

Our UK-based client produces unique, cutting-edge technology with the aim of providing renewable, zero-emissions power and cooling for the transportation industry. They have a huge focus on reducing climate change by creating innovative new technologies to combat the use of fossil fuels and have got an international reputation for innovation and engineering excellence.

The role

As a Technical Buyer you’ll be supporting the procurement team by maintaining databases, facilitating Purchase Orders and ensuring the continuous supply of goods and materials. You’ll be working as part of the end-to-end procurement lifecycle.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining procurement and inventory databases and producing reports
  • Facilitating Purchase Orders and amending/closing these
  • Ensuring supplies are delivered to the company warehouse on time
  • Managing any changes/problems
  • Managing and keeping ERP systems up to date
  • Identifying and communicating supply problems
  • Negotiating contracts, prices, and terms with suppliers
  • Reviewing cost-saving opportunities
  • Evaluating suppliers and reviewing performance
  • Supporting the Procurement and Inventory teams when required
  • Knowing the full procurement lifecycle
  • Developing a supplier network

 

The requirements

You will have experience in and knowledge of the procurement lifecycle, as well as…

  • Experience working in a team
  • Membership of Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) qualified
  • Experience with designing and implementing sourcing strategies
  • Awareness of the end-to-end procurement lifecycle
  • Understanding of mechanical engineering (ideally relating to powertrain or electronics)
  • Knowledge of precision engineering advantageous but not essential
  • Strong relationship building to develop a supplier network
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • Experience with expediting and Purchase Orders
  • Experience evaluating suppliers and the supply chain
  • Strong technical skills
  • Knowledge of costing processes
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Organised and proactive
  • Computer literacy skills (Microsoft Office suite)
