Job description

Our client is looking for a Team Lead to head up their Model Based Systems Engineering Team to support their future model development in Leicestershire.

The role 

Within this role, you’ll be responsible for leading the Model Based Systems Engineering Team to deliver Feature Definition and System Requirements. You’ll manage a variety of features used on chassis, powertrain, suspension, or HMI systems and lead the team to model and integrate systems at a logical level. 

Responsibilities include: 

  • Managing a team to capture feature definition documentation  

  • Managing day to day tasks of a team of Engineers, complete development appraisals and manage holiday

  • Continuously improve design and development lifecycles  

  • Identifying and resolving application problems and project risks 

  • Defining and meeting quality and cost targets

  • Advising suppliers on suitability of sub-components in new and current designs 

  • Generating and improving design decision sheets, specifications, and test requirements 

  • Working with existing worldwide suppliers and identifying potential new suppliers

The requirements 

You’ll be proficient in Systems design including modelling UML/SYSML. Other requirements include: 

  • BEng or MEng in Systems Engineering or Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent  

  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of systems engineering lifecycle (ISO15288) 

  • Experience of leading a team of engineers 

  • Experience of managing suppliers to deliver outsourced project deliverables 

  • Knowledge of CAN and experience of PREEvision are desirable  

  • Experience in motorcycle system level design  

  • Experience working in multi-discipline team environment  

  • Previous experience of working within an automotive environment is desirable  

  • Excellent computer literacy skills (MS Office) 

  • Self-motivated, resilient, flexible, and adaptable  

  • Logical approach to problem solving  

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 

  • Flexible and willing to undertake UK and overseas travel as required
