Our client is introducing a range of new and exciting automotive technologies across their range of motorcycles and are looking for a Team Lead to head up their Electrical and Electronic Components Team to support their current model development in Leicestershire.

The role 

Within this role, you’ll be responsible for leading the Electrical Electronics Components Team to develop and deliver the full range of electrical components from simple switches to safety related Electronic Control Modules.  

You will develop efficient processes, align to suitable toolchains, guide, and advise engineering through the process, advocate best practice, and review and approve engineering deliverables.  

Responsibilities include: 

  • Delivering components and control modules for use in chassis, powertrain, RESS, electrical drivelines, suspension systems etc. 

  • Ensuring components and modules meet all safety and standard requirements 

  • Managing day to day tasks of a team of Engineers, complete development appraisals and manage holiday 

  • Continuously improve design and development lifecycles 

  • Identifying and resolving application problems and project risks 

  • Defining and meeting quality and cost targets  

  • Advising suppliers on suitability of sub-components in new and current designs 

  • Generating and improving design decision sheets, specifications, and test requirements 

  • Working with existing worldwide suppliers and identifying potential new suppliers  

The requirements 

You’ll be proficient in Hardware design, requirements capture/management and component verification and validation. Other requirements include: 

  • BEng or MEng in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or equivalent  

  • Embedded systems design experience and strong trouble shooting skills are required 

  • Knowledge of CAN communication and previous experience of working within an automotive environment is desirable  

  • Experience managing a team of engineers within a similar environment 

  • Understanding of MBSE principles 

  • Excellent computer literacy skills (MS Office) 

  • Self-motivated, resilient, flexible, and adaptable 

  • Able to work under pressure to tight deadlines 

  • Logical approach to problem solving  

  • Able to work in a multi-discipline team environment  

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 

  • Flexible and willing to undertake UK and overseas travel as required
