Are you a highly motivated proactive engineer? Our client, a leading global powertrain consultancy, is seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to join their team across the West Midlands.

With over 70 years of experience, our client provides expertise in the electrification portfolio, in engineering and simulation as well as testing and the adoption of ADAS. They are committed to improving the performance of traditional powertrains and helping OEMs develop zero-impact emission mobility solutions. They continue to gather new and valuable insights from data intelligence to develop engineers, same time and reduce costs.   

The role

As a Systems Engineer, you’ll be responsible for developing, validating, and signing off the future generation of various vehicle systems and features. You will work with other team members and the customer to deliver projects according to the plan.  

Other responsibilities include:

  • Engaging with suppliers and other stakeholders to review key attributes 

  • Supporting the process for vehicle control system related hardware and software  

  • Engaging in quality and robustness activities including FMEA, fault tree analysis and boundary diagrams 

  • Supporting the development of the Electrical and Electronic architectures 

  • Validating and signing-off vehicle system and interactions  

  • Debugging and troubleshooting new software deliveries  


The requirements

You’ll have automotive engineering knowledge or experience in design, validation, and integration for vehicle powertrain systems, as well as… 

  • Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, Control Engineering or similar 

  • Knowledge of hybrid and electric components fundamentals 

  • Experience in automotive control systems and calibration  

  • Relevant engineering experience (ideally Systems Engineering) 

  • Proficient in MS Office (e.g., Word, Excel) 

  • Depth of experience in Matlab/Simulink or equivalent  

  • Experience in hybrid powertrain area is desirable  

  • Automotive Functional Safety knowledge is desirable  

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
