Job description

Our client is currently seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join their team as a Site Manager. This is an excellent opportunity to join one of the UK’s oldest and most advanced Systems Integrators, working with organisations such as National Grid and major Power Stations to upgrade the national infrastructure.

The role
As a Site Manager, you will ensure the smooth installation of a range of Substation Control and Protection System projects and assist with their test and commission. You’ll guide a team of engineers working to continuously improve the quality and safety of site installations. You will build strong relationships with customers and translate customer strategy into actionable projects, ensuring that quality solutions are delivered on time and to budget by owning the product definition and verification.
Other responsibilities include:

  • Driving effect decision making through strong data analysis and reporting
  • Providing monthly reports against key targets
  • Delivering projects on time and to budget
  • Developing and executing sourcing and contract negotiations
  • Liaising with Project Management to negotiate supply of resources
  • Providing valuable input into our client’s project road map

The requirements
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Electrical Engineering with demonstrable experience of working on National Grid Electricity Substations, as well as…

  • Degree educated in Electrical Engineering
  • Detailed understanding of Energy sector standards and engineering processes 
  • Familiar with common industrial protocols
  • Comfortable with presenting technical solutions to stakeholders 
  • Able to negotiate with subcontractors
  • Natural leader with an aptitude for team management
  • Excellent communication and articulation skills (both written and verbal)
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
  • Highly organised with excellent organisational skills
  • Flexible and willing to travel
