Our client, a leading global powertrain consultancy, is currently looking for someone to join their team as a Senior Transmission Controls Engineer in Coventry.

With over 70 years of experience, our client provides expertise in the electrification portfolio, in engineering and simulation as well as testing and the adoption of ADAS. They are committed to improving the performance of traditional powertrains and helping OEMs develop zero-impact emission mobility solutions. They continue to gather new and valuable insights from data intelligence to develop engineers, same time and reduce costs.   

The role

As Senior Transmission Controls Engineer, you’ll deliver projects in line with customer plans and work with other team members. You will engage with suppliers and other stakeholders to review hardware and software attributes and be responsible for testing, debugging, and troubleshooting new software and calibration deliveries.  

Other responsibilities include: 

  • Supporting the process for the development of transmission control  

  • Engaging in quality and robustness activities including FMEA, fault tree analysis and boundary diagrams 

  • Developing the Software and Controls for both conventions and electrified powertrain transmission control systems 

  • Analysing processes for continuous improvement

  • Supporting the development, integration, and calibration of vehicle architectures and control algorithms 

  • Managing projects and customer relationships

  • Working in line with company processes and safety requirements


The requirements

You’ll have automotive engineering knowledge and 4+ years experience in control software design, validation, and integration, as well as… 

  • Degree level educated in Engineering, Science, or a relevant field 

  • Experience of both conventional and electrified powertrain systems 

  • Experience in automotive control systems and calibration  

  • Track record of completing the full v-cycle of software development  

  • Depth of experience in MathWorks Matlab/Simulink/Stateflow or equivalent  

  • Experience with Vector/ETAS and transmission (AT/DCT) control  

  • Knowledge of both test rig and in-vehicle calibration development  

  • Able to represent the company in front of customers 

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills  

  • Comfortable engaging with a global team 

  • Experience in electrified powertrain area is desirable  

  • Fluent in English and a second language (German an advantage)  

  • Driving license valid for driving in the UK
