Job description

To support significant growth and expansion onto a second UK site, a Senior Test Facilities Engineer is required to join our client’s Project Support & Facilities team in Buckinghamshire. The facility has benefitted from major recent investments delivering some of the highest specification test cells available in Europe today.

Our client has over 100 years of experience in quality assurance and provides its services to industries around the globe. They aim to provide the very best in testing and quality assurance to companies across the world which they are achieving through their extensive testing capabilities and facilities. One of their core markets is the testing of parts for automotive OEMs and tier suppliers, testing combustion engines, powertrains and more. They are incredibly well respected in the powertrain industry, and this is an area of huge growth for the company.

 

The role 

As a Senior Test Facilities, Engineer you’ll ensure that customer projects are set up, supported, and delivered to the very highest standards. You’ll be interpreting customer project needs and requirements and carrying out the test and development activities associated with them to meet project objectives on time and within budget.

Responsibilities include: 

  • Commissioning new equipment 

  • Maintaining and configuring mobile test equipment 

  • Reporting on project objectives 

  • Communicating risks and issues 

  • Contributing to regular meetings and team briefings 

  • Carrying out test and development activities for customer projects 

  • Delivering customer projects on schedule and to cost and quality standards 

  • Installing and validating data measurement systems 

  • Being an expert on high-precision power analyser test equipment 

  • Working closely with other business units and teams 

 

The requirements 

You’ll have a strong technical understanding and experience of test facilities, instrumentation, and data acquisition software, as well as…  

  • Degree-level education in an engineering subject 

  • System communications experience 

  • Knowledge and use of instrumentation such as power analysers, fuel measurement etc. 

  • Comfortable owning and delivering plans against fast-changing requirements 

  • Capable of extracting key issues and determining required action 

  • Strong communication skills (both written and verbal) 

  • Health and safety awareness 

  • Able to drive continuous improvement and strive for innovation 

  • Exceptional customer service skills 

  • Organised and meticulous, able to manage multiple projects
