Are you an experienced engineer looking to work within the automotive landscape? Our client is looking for a tenacious Senior SQA Engineer to join their team during the exciting phase of growth and work in a dynamic, hands-on environment. 


The company 

We are representing an industry-leading consultancy company that specialises in developing breakthrough engineering and electrical proposition systems. This division specialises in delivering niche powertrain products to many premium automotive customers to clients from multiple sectors. 


The role 

As a Senior SQA Engineer, you will be responsible for the quality of purchase parts, from concept to series production. You’ll work closely with procurement, design, and system engineers to achieve parts that are cost-effective, fit for purpose and to the required quality standard. You’ll also have the opportunity to coach and inspire a small team to deliver projects on time and to budget. 

Other responsibilities include: 

  • Carrying out Supplier Quality Assurance activities within the supply chain, including PPAP 

  • Channelling resources effectively to support the business in achieving annual objectives  

  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives 

  • Building and negotiating strong relationships with customers and suppliers 

  • Proposing solutions for parts quality issues by working with suppliers, using 8D and other industry tools 

  • Creating and managing customer quality requirements that can be cascaded to the supply chain

  • Auditing suppliers and contributing to the nomination process

  • Providing regular status reports against project targets 

  • Actively participating in the series process and part approval at product launches 


The requirements 

You’ll have experience of NPI and/or Supplier Quality Assurance, ideally within the automotive sector, as well as: 

  • Degree educated in engineering or equivalent experience 

  • Proven track record of achieving PPAP 

  • Experience with various manufacturing processes, components and measurement techniques

  • Strong understanding of geometric design and tolerancing 

  • Knowledge of automotive technology and product development is desirable 

  • Experience in quality systems, quality tools and techniques 

  • Outstanding problem-solving skills with the ability to use 8D process 

  • Able to communicate and present effectively to suppliers and clients at all levels 

  • Customer focused with excellent communication and interpersonal skills 

  • Able to work collaboratively as part of a team as well as being self-motivated to work independently  

  • Strong leadership skills 

  • Flexible and willing to travel overseas 

  • Positive and driven
