Do you enjoy working on fast-paced projects, applying your engineering skills to a wide variety of technologies and applications, and challenging yourself every day? Our client is currently looking for someone to join their team as a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer Transmission based in Warwickshire.   

 

The company 

Our client is on a mission to create the future of powertrains. They work on the full lifecycle from strategic planning to testing of powertrain and electrification technologies. They have got a rich history in the automotive space, working with major vehicle OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers to optimise their products.   

Working towards a more sustainable future, they are operating in the electrification space to advance the development of new, more sustainable technologies.   

The role 

As Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you’ll be utilising state of the art simulation techniques and design tools to create, develop and prototype transmission, driveline, and actuation systems. You will be responsible for the delivery of technical work packages and whole projects, as well as helping to develop new techniques and analysis methods for use within the company.  

Responsibilities include: 

  • Engineering through design tools, calculations, analysis, simulation, drawings, and technical reporting 

  • Managing your own and others workload with small to medium sized projects 

  • Undertaking work with a high level of autonomy  

  • Supporting technical capability initiatives within the Mechanical Engineering function  

  • Independently and confidently presenting influential material to stakeholders 

  • Taking ownership of proposals and quotes from initiation through submission with the client  

 

The requirements 

You’ll have at least 3 years’ of automotive transmission design and analysis experience. Other requirements include: 

  • Degree level educated in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant field  

  • Competent in design and CAE analysis of rotating systems 

  • Strong track record of innovation to benefit the outcome of powertrain projects  

  • Successfully managed small to medium sized projects 

  • Proficient in some of the key software packages (SMT MASTA, Romax, Creo, Catia) 

  • Understanding of the fundamental principles of mechanical engineering  

  • Strong commercial acumen  

  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) 

  • Knowledge of either French, German or Korean language is a huge advantage 

  • Willing to undertake short and long haul-travel
