Our client is introducing a range of new and exciting automotive technologies across their range of motorcycles and are looking for a bright, talented, and passionate Functional Safety Engineer at both Engineer and Senior Engineer Level to support their future model development in Leicestershire.

The role 

As Functional Safety Engineer, you’ll be responsible for developing safe systems from early concept to complete system design for production programs. You will work closely with a variety of stakeholders to ensure the Functional Safety Lifecyle is met.  

Senior Engineers are expected to have significantly more experience, be capable of mentoring engineers, chair work product reviews, and sign off products. 

Responsibilities include: 

  • Communicating with cross-functional teams on functional safety matters  

  • Promoting functional safety across the business 

  • Delivering function safety work products on a variety of products including HARA’s, Impact Analyses, Development Interface Agreements, Functional Safety Concepts etc. 

  • Developing and following best practise working procedures 

  • Proposing developments to the functional safety lifecycle 

  • Supporting verification and confirmation reviews with suppliers  

  • Undertaking and assisting with projects as required by your manager  

The requirements 

You’ll have experience in the ISO26262 lifecycle through concept, system, hardware, and software design. Other requirements include: 

  • BEng or MEng in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or equivalent  

  • Evidence of ISO26262 training (or similar) 

  • Proven use of tools for hazard identification, safety analyses, and requirements management  

  • Experience working in multi-functional project teams 

  • Knowledge of CAN communication and previous experience of working within an automotive environment is desirable  

  • Excellent computer literacy skills (MS Office) 

  • Self-motivated, resilient, methodical, and accurate 

  • Logical approach to problem solving  

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 

  • Flexible and willing to undertake UK and overseas travel as required
