Do you have experience in commercial or passenger vehicle heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) engineering? Our client is currently looking for a HVAC Engineer to join their team in the West Midlands. 

 

The company 

Our client design, manufacture and sell advanced single and double deck buses within the automotive market. They have developed a range of low-carbon buses with optimised drive systems, setting the benchmark for fuel economy and CO2 reduction. Their lightweight engineering, premium service and low running costs all contribute to these advanced passenger vehicles designed for a global market. 

 

The role 

As Senior HVAC Engineer, you’ll be responsible for the research and development of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems for commercial vehicle applications.

Responsibilities include: 

  • Working on the application and integration of HVAC systems and components 

  • Identifying opportunities by studying system portfolio within the wider group 

  • Supporting concept selections and adherence to design standards 

  • Looking after CAD activities within the HVAC team 

  • Ensuring CAD designs meet manufacture and service requirements 

  • Identifying opportunities for improving efficiencies 

  • Providing technical support for development issues 

  • Undertaking root cause analysis 

  • Creating and presenting technical reports 

  • Coordinating and participating in design reviews 

 

The requirements 

You’ll have at least 5 years’ post graduate experience in commercial or passenger vehicle HVAC engineering. Other requirements include: 

  • Degree-level education in an engineering field (ideally Automotive, Mechanical or Electrical) 

  • CAD experience in 3D and drawing creation and modification (Solidworks, Catia Preferred) 

  • Proficient in generating and presenting technical material 

  • Excellent computer literacy skills (Microsoft Office)  

  • Able to work autonomously with very little assistance  

  • Self-starter and highly motivated  

  • Provide balance solutions for clear decision making  

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills 

  • Flexible and willing to work from the manufacturing premises and remotely when required
