Are you interested developing and delivering market-leading electric vehicles? Our client is currently looking for a Senior CAE Engineer to join their team in the West Midlands and design the next generation of their platform.  


The company 

Our client design, manufacture and sell advanced single and double deck buses within the automotive market. They have developed a range of low-carbon buses with optimised drive systems, setting the benchmark for fuel economy and CO2 reduction. Their lightweight engineering, premium service and low running costs all contribute to these advanced passenger vehicles designed for a global market. 


The role 

As a Senior CAE Engineer, you will provide capability and design support to the Architecture, Layout and Integration Engineering team. You will utilise CAE tools and calculation methods in the design of vehicle components and systems and ensure each project meets performance, weight and cost targets.  

Other responsibilities include: 

  • Improving the design of components using FEA tools  

  • Creating CAE models from scratch  

  • Working with other FEA engineers to meet programme objectives  

  • Developing partnerships with suppliers and customers  

  • Continuously improving product designs, performance, and reliability  

  • Building and maintaining the management system 

  • Conducting regular reviews for improvement  

The requirements 

You’ll be able to seamlessly integrate between test and simulation, as well as… 

  • Degree-level educated in an engineering field  

  • Experience with any of following Altair/HyperWorks, ANSYS, Nastran. Preferably HyperWorks tools such as Radioss/OptiStruct solvers 

  • A strong understanding of Fatigue and NVH 

  • Understanding on mechanics of materials and pre-processing tools  

  • Knowledge of FEA theory  

  • Attitude to take initiatives  

  • Strives for perfection  

  • Drive to seek new ideas  

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
