The company 

We are representing an industry-leading consultancy company that specialises in developing breakthrough engineering and electrical proposition systems. This division specialises in delivering niche powertrain products to many premium automotive customers to clients from multiple sectors.


The role 

As a Senior Buyer, you’ll act as an expert consultant for client industrialisation projects. You will be a key point of contact, coordinating the supply chain activities between suppliers, clients and Engineering or project teams. You’ll be responsible for developing and maintaining successful business relationships with a diverse base of customers and suppliers to maintain sustainable growth. 

Other responsibilities include: 

  • Meeting with clients to discuss and define their requirements 

  • Proposing solutions to ensure customer satisfaction 

  • Identifying new opportunities with potential supply partners 

  • Procuring project goods including bespoke parts and tooling manufactured from drawings 

  • Carrying out competitive bidding, negotiating prices and adding value 

  • Liaising with suppliers and Engineering teams on design feasibility issues, orders, concessions and returns

  • Providing accurate forecasts 

  • Delivering on projects on time and to budget  

  • Leading cost estimation activities during product concept phases

  • Supporting the business development team on bid preparation and pitching to clients for procurement activities  


The requirements 

You’ll have experience of NPI within a senior procurement role, ideally within the automotive sector, as well as: 

  • Demonstrable experience working in an Engineering or Manufacturing environment 

  • Membership of Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) is desirable 

  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment and deliver within short time frames 

  • Knowledge with BoM’s, PO Processes and familiar with technical drawings 

  • Strong understanding of contract law 

  • High level of business intelligence and commercial acumen

  • Able to communicate effectively within a cross-functional team 

  • Customer-focused with an aptitude for building successful long-term relationships 

  • Strong negotiation skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels

  • Flexible and willing to travel overseas 

  • Results-driven, flexible and able to work with challenging targets
