Job description

A world famous, leading manufacturer of tires for the motorsports industry is looking for a Sales Manager to join their Motorsport team in the UK to manage their sales and customer service team.

The company

Our client is focused on making top-quality tires for both road cars and for cars involved in motorsports. They have over 100 years of industry experience and a rich heritage in the automotive world, making them one of the most recognisable brands worldwide.

With a commitment to quality and safety, their products are used around the world in the motorsports space and they are looking for someone who is equally passionate about motorsports to join them.

The role

As Sales Manager your key focus will be managing the sales and customer service teams to maintain existing business and grow new business. You’ll lead on growing the motorsport operation within the company by pursuing sales opportunities and building strong relationships with customers. This is a role with a wide range of responsibilities within the company, from sales, to planning, to marketing. You’ll be an integral part of the motorsport leadership team so will have a large role in strategy and planning.

Development of the Sales and Customer service team is also a key aspect to this role, and our client is looking for a demonstrable leader to mentor and develop them so that they excel in their roles.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Managing the sales and customer service team and mentoring the performance of your direct reports (circa 5)
  • Supporting strategies that grow the Motorsport business
  • Leading the Motorsport business
  • Financial modelling to assess new business opportunities
  • Negotiating and reviewing contracts with suppliers
  • Meeting with suppliers and dealers
  • Identify and follow-up with new business, market, and sales opportunities
  • Identify weaknesses with the existing suppliers
  • Assisting in developing and short- and long-term delivery sales and business plans
  • Market intelligence gathering
  • Attending industry shows/exhibitions/conferences and representing the company at these
  • Reporting on sales plans
  • Liaising with other stakeholders in the business

 

The requirements

You will be passionate about motorsports and have experience in motorsport tire or tire sales, as well as…

  • Strong track record in sales (ideally in the motorsport or tire markets)
  • Experience in a structured sales role in a large company
  • Experience managing a team and providing direction to direct reports
  • Technical sales experience
  • Strong communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Organised and disciplined
  • Understanding of the motorsports market
