Job description

FMC Auto Innovation are currently supporting an established engineering company, dedicated to providing high quality design, simulation and product development services across the automotive and aerospace engineering industry. They are currently looking for a Robotic Simulation Engineer to join their UK team.

The role

As a Robotic Simulation Engineer you’ll work as part of a team that aim to produce the highest quality work for the client’s customers. You’ll apply industry knowledge and experience to complete projects from quoting phase to commissioning and will be utilising the latest technology in the successful implementation of project assignments.

Responsibilities include:

  • Developing accurate simulation studies to verify the effectiveness of proposed robotic systems and processes
  • Proving out design tooling feasibility, dynamic clearance and assembly sequencing
  • Developing innovative solutions to optimize manufacturing productivity systems.
  • Identifying potential assembly problems and production constraints by analysis and simulation
  • Developing innovative solutions for creating, optimizing Simulation cells including process, cycle times understanding and OLP creation
  • Working effectively in a multi-disciplined environment
  • Providing design input at concept, definition and detail stage.
  • Reviewing and documenting issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Delivering high quality simulations to demanding timescales
  • Supporting on-site build wherever necessary.
  • Reviewing current technology and investigate/develop potential new technology


The requirements

The successful Robotic Simulation Engineer will come from an automotive background, as well as…

  • Specialisation in factory automation systems
  • Experience of Technomatix software using ROBCAD and Process Simulate
  • Body in White (BIW) experience desirable
  • Mechanical Engineering related education (ideally degree educated at 2:1 level)
  • CAD experience with the use of RobCad, Catia V5, 3D AutoCAD or Factory CAD
  • High level of computer literacy, self-motivated, enthusiastic and effective problem solve
  • Experience with Vis-Mockup, Jack, Process Simulate, Process Designer, Team Centre Engineering, Microsoft Office: PowerPoint, Front-page & Excel desirable
  • 3 years Automotive experience, or strong education with 2+ years in engineering industry preferred
