Do you enjoy working on challenging projects and applying your expertise to a wide variety of technologies and applications? Our client is looking for an innovative R&D Manager to join their team. 

The company 

Our client is a global engineering and manufacturing firm with over 115 years of experience. They are a Tier 1 supplier focused on the development and production of high value, lower volume rubber/polymer-based products for a variety of industries including automotive, aerospace, medical and defence markets globally. Backed by a major rubber manufacturer, this role will play a key part in the further growth of the organisation. 

The role 

As a R&D Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role in the commercialization of new products by leading the development and testing of new materials, from concept to industrialisation. You’ll drive innovation among a team of chemists and labs, focusing on optimising existing products and promoting process improvements.  

Responsibilities include: 

  • Planning, measuring and reporting the delivery of new product projects 

  • Investigating and creating new materials, processes, designs and testing 

  • Supporting the R&D function in the evaluation and maintenance of new and existing processes and standards

  • Aligning R&D strategy with business strategy and project roadmaps 

  • Representing the company at conferences and customer meetings 

  • Driving operational excellence and adhering to best practices 

  • Maintaining and expert-level understanding of emerging trends and technologies 

 

The requirements

You will have 10+ years of relevant work experience with 5+ years’ experience in a leadership role, well as…

  • Degree educated in a technical discipline 

  • Successful track record of direct and indirect management of resources and teams 

  • Demonstrable experience of developing new products 

  • Experience in material manufacturing processes 

  • Creative and able to provide innovative solutions 

  • Hyper-organised and process driven

  • Analytical with excellent numerical ability

  • Able to work both autonomously and as part of a team 

  • Excellent communication, negotiation and presentation skills
