This is a great opportunity to be a part of a large globally focused procurement and supply chain focused team. Our client is looking for a Project Buyer to join their team and look after some of the most exciting R&D projects for world leaders in the manufacture of microscopy systems.

A market leader, our client is focused on implementing innovative optical technologies into their range of high-value and high-tech capital equipment systems. They are a world-renowned German manufacturer with a reputation for delivering gold-standard technologies. 

The role 

As Project Buyer, you’ll support the organisation by provide first class Supply Chain excellence and managing Supply Chain projects through the early involvement of external businesses and process partners.  

Responsibilities include: 

• Processing Supply Chain tasks through market analysis  

• Challenging product specification and fostering the usage of standard components 

• Negotiating and closing contracts in collaboration with the legal department  

• Securing prototypes and first article parts supply  

• Supporting the product launch with the Operational Buyers Team  

• Initiating and managing projects to optimise the Supply Chain processes 

• Collaborating with R&D and Quality teams 

• Assisting with quality audits during supplier selection 

• Developing and implementing efficient logistics concepts with vendors 

The requirements 

You will ideally be someone with project buying experience in Aerospace, Automotive, Medical, or Scientific sectors. Other requirements include: 

• BSc or above in a relevant discipline 

• Qualifications in procurement or supply chain  

• Excellent SAP experience 

• Proven capability of optimising supply chain processes 

• Experience within a project buying based role 

• Background in Electronic manufacturing   

• Excellent computer literacy skills  

• Strong attention to detail and high level of numeracy skills  

• Strong written and verbal communication skills 

• German speaking would be a distinct advantage  

• Flexible and willing to travel nationwide and abroad 

• Ideally based in Cambridgeshire
