Do you have 10 years’ experience in Vehicle Manufacturing? Our leading commercial vehicle manufacturer is currently looking for a Production Support Manager (Electrical and EV Build) to join their team in North Yorkshire.  


The company 

Our client design, manufacture and sell advanced single and double deck buses within the automotive market. They have developed a range of low-carbon buses with optimised drive systems, setting the benchmark for fuel economy and CO2 reduction. Their lightweight engineering, premium service and low running costs all contribute to these advanced passenger vehicles designed for a global market. 


The role 

As Production Support Manager, you will lead, coach, and develop a group of Sub Contractors on the Pre and Post Paint Production Lines in the electrical stages. You will ensure the managers and their teams have a clear understanding of their roles and responsibilities and are given the necessary tools and support required to deliver their work.  

Responsibilities include: 

  • Planning, co-ordinating and controlling the manufacturing processes within the department 

  • Reviewing vehicle order instructions, estimating timescales, and setting target dates  

  • Managing and organising the electrical team to ensure all outputs are met 

  • Monitoring production schedules, staff levels, and training requirements  

  • Ensuring smooth implementation and setup of SAP and ISO 

  • Following safe operating procedures and agreed systems of working 

  • Understanding and meeting necessary quality standards and legal compliance 

  • Maintaining the necessary administration required  


The requirements 

You’ll have experience in automobile or vehicle body building in electrical, programming and manufacturing. Other requirements include: 

  • At least 10 years’ experience in Vehicle Manufacturing  

  • Qualified Engineer in electrical or automobile engineering  

  • An understanding of automotive systems and procedures based on Lean manufacturing techniques and 5s standards (sort, straighten, shine, standardise, sustain) 

  • Health and Safety trained (IOSH Managing Safely)  

  • Prior experience in a managerial role 

  • Strong organisational and planning skills 

  • Confident hands-on approach to work and problem solving 

  • Attention to detail to ensure high levels of quality  

  • Able to maintain positive and productive working relationships with stakeholders  

  • Self-motivated, resilient, and a clear decision maker  

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
