Do you have demonstrable experience in power electronics or motor control? Our client is looking for a Principal Power Electronics Engineer to join their team and drive the development of an innovative range of automotive products.

Our client is leading the breakthrough of turbocharger products and vehicle software for passenger cars and commercial vehicles. This is an exciting time to join their team of imaginative and highly skilled professionals as they supply cutting-edge technology to major companies across the globe. 

The role

As a Principal Power Electronics Engineer, you’ll bring your expertise and provide input to cutting-edge technologies and powertrain applications. You will deliver best-in-class performance and work with systems, embedded software, and motor control teams. 

Other responsibilities include:

  • Developing new power electronic products 

  • Designing performance characterisation  

  • Debugging prototypes 

  • Collaborating with mechanical design, manufacturing, and supply chain teams 

  • Bringing the products into mass production 

  • Developing new technologies and solutions 

  • Working in accordance with processes and safety requirements


The requirements

You’ll have 10+ years of automotive industry experience, as well as:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Power Electronics or Motor Control

  • PhD preferred 

  • Experience developing three-phase inverters or other power electronics products 

  • Proven record in the full PCB development lifecycle 

  • Hands-on experience with designing, debugging, and testing motor controllers 

  • Python/MATLAB scripting  

  • Deep understanding of magnetics, circuits, motor control, converters, gat drivers, modelling, and simulation  

  • Knowledge of safety and EMI requirements related to power electronics products 

  • Customer-focused with excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Able to work independently as well as part of a team 

  • Fast learner, who embraces new technology and challenges

  • You will be located in either Germany or France
