Job description

Do you have experience of analysis and development within Commercial and Electric Vehicle Environment? Our client is looking for an Electrical and Electronic Systems Engineer to join their team in North Yorkshire. 

The company 

Our client design, manufacture and sell advanced single and double deck buses within the automotive market. They have developed a range of low-carbon buses with optimised drive systems, setting the benchmark for fuel economy and CO2 reduction. Their lightweight engineering, premium service and low running costs all contribute to these advanced passenger vehicles designed for a global market.    

The role 

As Vehicle Attributes Principal Engineer, you will lead the benchmarking of company and competitor vehicles by providing accurate and clear feedback to engineering functions.  

Responsibilities include: 

  • Forecasting targets in line with programme timing and the competitor landscape 

  • Conducting level 1 target setting to deliver concept and achieve competitiveness 

  • Being the internal voice of the customer base 

  • Evaluating vehicle performance through virtual and physical phases 

  • Monitoring target achievement through production 

  • Communicating with all areas of the company and group 

  • Closing the loop on continuous improvement by feeding into future model targets 

  • Leading prototype fleet and DVP, test planning, management, and reporting  

 

The requirements 

You will have experience of analysis and development within Commercial and Electric Vehicle Environment. As well as…  

  • Degree level educated in an engineering field  

  • Vehicle Engineering experience in automotive or commercial vehicle industry  

  • Vehicle Electrification experience and understanding of impact on vehicle attributes 

  • Self-starter with high levels of resilience to lead root cause analysis 

  • Customer focused mindset  

  • Provide balanced solutions for clear decision making 

  • Competent in generating and presenting technical material  

  • Analytical with strong attention to detail 

  • Able to work both autonomously and as part of a team 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
