Job description | Our client is looking for a highly technical Principal Engineer – Motor Design to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity to apply your engineering experience to a range of innovative technologies in a hands-on, dynamic environment. The company Our client is on a mission to create the future of powertrains. They work on the full lifecycle from strategic planning to testing powertrain and electrification technologies. They have got a rich history in the automotive space, working with major vehicle OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers to optimise their products. Working towards a more sustainable future, they are operating in the electrification space to advance the development of new, more sustainable technologies. The role As a Principal Engineer, you’ll work in both a technical and commercial environment – you will focus on designing and prototyping electric motors for a variety of applications and liaise with customers and stakeholders to ensure their priorities are met. You’ll lead, motivate and inspire a team of talented engineers to deliver quality solutions for complex assignments, bringing your wealth of experience to mentor them from structural and thermal analysis through to CAD design for a range of technologies. Other responsibilities include: Acting as a lead change agent, able to channel resources effectively Delivering projects on time and on budget Building strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
Ensuring rapid responses to customer queries Maintaining operational excellence for the customer base Presenting data to both technical and non-technical stakeholders Creating technical project proposals and resourcing estimates
The requirements You will have extensive experience in electrified system mechanical design and/or analysis with a track record of innovation, as well as… Comprehensive understanding of manufacturing techniques used for electric motors for prototypes and series production Detailed knowledge of HV safety standards and creepage and clearance design rules Strong, demonstratable 2D/3D CAD modelling and drawing Experience in a systems engineering environment
Familiarity with vibration, life and NVH analysis Innovative and enjoys resolving challenges Analytical, logical and detail-orientated Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
