Job description

Are you interested in working with industry experts and employees from all over the world to promote more sustainable mobility? Our client is currently looking for a Principal Electrode Engineer to join their team in France.

Our client is committed to the industrialisation of lithium-io batteries and promoting a model of mobility that is more respectful of the planet. With huge growth plans, they are working to establish their first Gigafactory in Europe, equipping 300,000 electric vehicles, and creating more than 1,200 direct jobs.  

 

The role 

As Principal Electrode Engineer, you’ll be working with different mixing preparation technology including planetary mixing and high energy dispersion as well as working with different coating machine technology.  

Responsibilities include: 

  • Developing the electrode formulation and company know-how 

  • Optimising the formulation depending on power and durability target  

  • Building the supplier’s network for binder and conductive additives 

  • Supporting the screening and selection of electrode components 

  • Developing a deep understanding of ceramic material and process knowledge  

The requirements 

You’ll have 10 years+ industry experience. Other requirements include: 

  • MSC or PhD in materials science or electrochemistry or polymer science 

  • Battery electrochemistry knowledge based on electrode engineering 

  • Experience with extrusion technics, continuous mixing, and dry coating 

  • Experience with Ni-rich (Ni>85%) NMC cathode would be a plus 

  • Machine design skill based on chemical reaction calculation 

  • Process validation experience based on cell knowledge 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 

  • Action-orientated, proactive and works at pace
