Job description | Are you an experienced power electronics engineer looking to develop cutting-edge technologies within motorsport? Our client, world-renowned within the automotive and motorsport markets, is looking for a highly skilled Senior Power Electronics Engineer to join their team. The role As a Senior Power Electronics Engineer, you’ll own the specification and development of our client’s industry leading Electrical and Electronic components for a range of powertrain projects and applications. You’ll bring your experience to lead and mentor a dedicated team of engineers through the entire product lifecycle, from design to delivery. Other responsibilities include: Planning resources and activities to suit deliveries Providing technical mentoring to the power electronics team Leading design reviews of electronics/software projects Conducting the testing and verification of power electronics devices and assemblies Identifying the root of development and quality issues and generating solutions
Co-ordinating engineering changes and maintaining detailed design records Liaising with suppliers to ensure suitable technical specifications are met Driving continuous improvement initiatives Working by processes and safety requirements Producing technical documentation and specifications
The requirements You’ll have extensive experience of power electronics engineering with a track record of electronic product design, test, and failure investigation, as well as: Degree Educated in Electrical or Electronic Engineering (or equivalent) Strong understanding knowledge of Electrical and Electronic systems used within the Motorsport, Aerospace or Automotive industries Experience of high power (100kW+) and high voltage (up to 1000V) electronics
Detailed knowledge of high-power inverter design and inverter/motor drive loss, efficiency, and cooling Familiar with motor drive system testing Experience of PCB circuit and layout design F1 or high-performance motor sport design experience would be advantageous Strategic thinker with outstanding data-gathering and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) Proven experience working as part of a small, highly skilled engineering group Able to take on challenges within a fast-paced, technical environment Results-orientated and driven
