Job description

Our client is seeking a Package Lead Engineer to join their team in Leicestershire and take responsibility for the Design and Development of a package of components on their award-winning motorcycles.

The role 
The role is a highly technical role, focussed on detail and delivery, but also includes a degree of planning for package delivery and leadership where you will mentor and support the development of your direct reports including Design and Senior Design Engineers. 
Other responsibilities include:

  • Collaborating across the entire supply chain to maximise effectiveness 

  • Creating and maintaining detailed project plans  

  • Delivering the key KPIs and cost, time, quality, and specification targets  

  • Following established processes, and procedures and working to best practice 

  • Minimising risk to projects and products  

  • Escalating concerns, risks, and issues up through the reporting chain 

  • Mentoring, coaching, and supporting the development of direct reports 

  • Undertaking and assisting with other projects as required by your manager  

 

The requirements 
You’ll have previous experience working within an automotive or manufacturing environment, as well as:

  • MEng or BEng in an Engineering related subject  

  • Good level of technical judgement and decision-making skills 

  • A collaborator who gets value from more experienced staff 

  • Demonstrates urgency and consistently delivers to promise  

  • Ability to plan ahead for package workload and release 

  • A strong supporter of change and process within the team  

  • Excellent understanding of the importance of high-quality work  

  • Demonstrates accountability for tasks  

  • Willing to develop leadership skills  

  • Desire and ability to learn and take guidance from others 

  • Proficient in Microsoft Packages including Excel, Word, and Outlook  

  • Able to be flexible with working hours
