Our client is seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to support their electrification team based in Northamptonshire. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer looking to work with technologies at the forefront of the automotive landscape.

The role 
As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will support the team by producing design solutions that arise from new product design, customer requests and other ad hoc activities. Working to a range of industry standards for quality and validation, you will provide solutions based on a robust methodology that will keep our client at the forefront of technology in the years ahead.  

Other responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining operational excellence for the customer base 

  • Building strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders

  • Presenting data to both technical and non-technical stakeholders 

  • Translating client strategy into actionable projects 

  • Working in accordance with the Data Protection Act 2018 
     

The requirements 

You must have a sound knowledge of engineering principles and materials, and an ability to apply your experience creatively in the development of world-leading innovative products, as well as… 

  • Degree educated in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline 

  • 2 years of experience in a design and development environment  

  • Passionate about renewable energy system design 

  • Basic understanding of batteries and their associated architecture 

  • Strong experience with CAD software, preferably CATIA V5 

  • A confident and logical approach to solving engineering problems 

  • Comfortable working with others and on your own more autonomously  

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment

  • Willing to develop and take on complex technical concepts
