The role 

We are seeking a Manufacturing Director to lead manufacturing organisation for our client’s orthopaedic implant manufacturing facility. You will be responsible for developing and executing strategies that consistently improve manufacturing quality, capacity, and cost. 

Other responsibilities include: 

  • Building, developing and leading high performing teams in a technically complex regulated environment 

  • Planning objectives with business and manufacturing leadership to ensure efficient and cost-effective delivery of products 

  • Establishing KPI’s and metrics that drives accountability through all levels of the organisation 

  • Ensuring quality control and conformance to Good Manufacturing Practices 

  • Managing the overall manufacturing budget 

  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives 

  • Acting at a technical SME within the site leadership team 

  • Taking on cross functional relationships to ensure all business objectives are met 

 

The requirements 

You’ll have 5+ years’ experience leading manufacturing & engineering teams in a regulated environment, ideally the medical device industry, as well as… 

  • Degree level educated in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering or equivalent 

  • Experience using tools such as process maps, FMEA and MSA 

  • Experience of driving performance improvements using Six-Sigma, lean or other CI techniques 

  • Strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing 

  • Demonstrable experience of leading capital projects, from concept to implementation 

  • Experience of plant operations management in a medical devices’ environment 

  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills  

  • Outstanding information gathering and problem-solving skills

  • Detail orientated and analytical 

  • Proficient computer literacy skills (including Microsoft Office suite)

  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
