Our client is searching for an ambitious Product Director to join their world-class brand in the US.  

The company 

Our client is the leader in Turbomachinery services for the upstream, midstream, and downstream Oil & Gas industry. They focus on improving performance, increasing yield, enhancing equipment reliability, and solving challenging problems faced by customers. With more than 40 years’ experience, our client's expertise is executed in a comprehensive platform of hardware, software, and consulting services.  

The role 

As Product Director, you will provide leadership in the identification, management, and commercial success of new application products and service offerings that deliver customer value.  

This is a new role within the organisation as they wish to create a true IIoT and industry 4.0 solution offering. Individuals with experience of MES, APM, EAM, AI, machine learning etc and who have fulfilled a product management, evangelist or advisory role may well be a fantastic candidate. This will be an opportunity to truly own and develop a digital solution road map to complement our client's hardware and consulting services, which are genuinely second to none.  

You may have worked within an OEM, operator or software vendor environment.  

Other responsibilities include:  

  • Guiding internal teams regarding product requirements, functionality, and features 

  • Translating market and customer needs into Product Requirement Documents (PRD) 

  • Interacting with different functions in the organisation to provide regular updates 

  • Supporting sales and engineering efforts with customer presentations 

  • Obtaining the Voice of Customer, analyse market potential and develop business cases 

  • Setting requirements for new products within and beyond the core product portfolio 

  • Researching, developing, and launching new offerings, methodologies, and capabilities 

  • Developing tools and procedures for diagnostic selling 

 

The requirements 

You’ll have 10+ years of oil and gas, process controls knowledge or experience, as well as: 

  • Advanced engineering, mathematics, or science degree: Master of Science, PhD, and/or MBA strongly preferred 

  • 5+ years’ in commercial roles, including sales, marketing, or business development 

  • 5+ years of advanced applications development or implementation including turbomachinery controls, advanced process controls, model predictive controls, etc.  

  • Skilled in leading multiple functions of the organisation  

  • High EQ combined with technical competence  

  • Authentic curiosity and desire to understand the complex customer base 

  • Knowledge of control products and systems, embedded software application 

  • Working knowledge of tools necessary to satisfy Marketing functions 

  • Able to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment  

  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail 

  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)

  • Ability to read, speak, and write in English required 

  • Flexible and willing to travel (30% of the time)
