Job description

We are currently recruiting for a market-leading private equity backed ophthalmology company who are focused on implementing innovative optical technologies into their specialist range of surgical instruments. They are currently looking for a Global Sourcing Manager to manage the bringing in of materials to support medical device production.
 

The company

Our client is a well-respected brand in the surgical ophthalmology field who aim to provide high-quality products with performance and precision. This is an exciting time to be joining, they have strong growth projections alongside new products being launched into the market due to numerous acquisitions as well as the development of their existing portfolio.
 

The role

Our client is looking for a Global Sourcing Manager to work closely with the supply chain team to manage and execute procurement decisions to ensure service flow. You’ll look after the budget for raw materials for the company’s surgical instruments and will determine where is best to source them from. There’s a real opportunity to make your own mark on this role and they’re looking for someone passionate and career-driven to undertake strategic sourcing. The role is UK-based, with the ability to work from home.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Understanding and analysing total spend on materials
  • Allocating the sourcing budget
  • Working with materials management
  • Coordinating and dealing with suppliers – negotiating, managing and review contractual arrangements
  • Developing strategies for sourcing and spend analysis
  • Driving continuous improvement in procurement processes
  • Consulting with legal counsels
  • Implementing new and existing products and services
  • Analysis of invoices and contracts to identify cost savings
  • Implementing projects that increase quality and service
  • Developing effective action plans by liaising with internal and external stakeholders
  • Responsibility for management of top-spend with tier-1 medical device manufacturers and OEM suppliers

 

The requirements

You will have experience in the medical devices/pharmaceuticals space, as well as:

  • Over 5 years’ experience in the medical device or pharmaceutical sourcing space
  • Project management experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or a related field
  • Experience in purchasing, supplier management, and operations
  • Strong understanding of commodity Spend Analysis
  • Strong MS office software experience
  • Knowledge of product validation and qualification
  • Excellent negotiation skills and ability to work with suppliers and drive cost-saving
  • Clear and concise communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Experience in leadership
  • Strong analytical skills using factual data and analysis
  • Able to travel internationally
  • Chinese language skills desirable but not essential
