With a long history and a strong heritage in the aerospace market, they are now focused on designing advanced technologies for the future across several applications, including helicopters, aircraft, aerostructures and cyber security. Their core focus is on innovation and sustainability as they go forward. 

Designing and developing these technologies in-house, they offer a huge range of defense and security solutions to institutions across the globe with the aim of strengthening global security. 

 

The role 

As Flight System Technical Fellow, you’ll be focused on managing and training others in state-of-the-art helicopter flight system technology. Working closely with other functional departments, you will provide technical oversight and leadership in developing advance flight control systems as well as anticipating and solving problems with the technology. 

 

Responsibilities include: 

  • Analysing data and developing best practise reports  

  • Organised and able to confidently undertake multiple projects

  • Identifying and delivering training opportunities 

  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives 

  • Providing technical direction and oversight 

  • Investigating and resolving quality issues 

  • Working across the whole product development lifecycle  

  • Resolving technical issues  

  • Build relationships with both internal and external stakeholders 

  • Work in accordance to processes and safety requirements 

 

The requirements 

You’ll have a minimum of 20 years’ experience in flight system development including at least 5 years’ experience in an engineering lead position. Other requirements include: 

 

  • Master’s degree level educated in Aerospace or a relevant discipline 

  • Deep and broad knowledge of advanced flight control system technology  

  • Experience with the integration, test and qualification of experimental avionics 

  • Demonstrable track record presenting in international technical forums 

  • Comfortable teaching and developing engineering talent 

  • An experienced mentor  

  • Able to manage internal and external stakeholders  

  • Good people management skills and a track record of working as part of a multi-disciplinary team 

  • Able to work collaboratively as part of a team as well as being self-motivated to work independently  

  • Organised and able to confidently undertake multiple projects

  • Able to investigate complex issues and solve problems 

  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail

  • Ambitious, with a passion for continuous improvement 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills  

  • Positive, proactive, and driven
