Do you have a strong technical understanding of powertrain testing facilities? Our client is investing in a significant new facility that will double its powertrain test offerings, cementing its position as the market leader. They are now looking for a Facilities Engineer to join their team in Buckinghamshire and ensure all requirements are met in order to deliver industry-leading service.

Our client has over 100 years of experience in quality assurance and provides its services to industries around the globe. They aim to provide the very best in testing and quality assurance to companies across the world which they are achieving through their extensive testing capabilities and facilities. One of their core markets is the testing of parts for automotive OEMs and tier suppliers, testing combustion engines, powertrains and more. They are incredibly well respected in the powertrain industry, and this is an area of huge growth for the company.

 

The role 

As Facilities Engineer you’ll make sure that facility efficiency, safety, reliability, and regulatory requirements are met to deliver industry-leading service across two test facilities. You’ll be responsible for ensuring equipment is maintained to the highest level as well as taking part in fault-finding activities and equipment upgrades. Your core focus will be leading the assessment, commissioning, and maintenance of either mechanical or electrical equipment. 

Responsibilities include: 

  • Leading in the assessment, specification, design, and commissioning of electrical/mechanical systems 

  • Undertaking planned and corrective maintenance activities 

  • Maintaining drawings and documentation associated with equipment 

  • Ensuring equipment complies with industry regulations 

  • Planning delivery projects from end-to-end 

  • Leading on health and safety assessments 

  • Implementing health and safety control measures 

  • Producing technical reports 

  • Communicating with suppliers to support growth  

  • Providing guidance and training to other team members 

 

The requirements 

You’ll have a strong technical understanding of and experience in EV/powertrain testing facilities. Other requirements include: 

  • Degree-level education in an Engineering discipline  

  • Working knowledge of systems such as battery simulators, motors, fuel systems etc. 

  • Experience building and testing cell infrastructure  

  • Experience in combustion engine, EV powertrain, battery and hybrid system test operations is desirable  

  • Capable of designing and interpreting drawings  

  • Comfortable owning and delivering plans against fast-changing requirements 

  • Able to critique and improve activities with continuous improvement  

  • Analytical and able to confidently solve problems 

  • Commercial acumen 

  • Organised and meticulous with strong attention to detail 

  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
