One of their core markets is the testing of parts for automotive OEMs and tier suppliers, testing combustion engines, powertrains and more. They are incredibly well respected in the powertrain industry and this is an area of huge growth for the company.

The role

As Facilities Engineer you’ll make sure that facility efficiency, safety, reliability and regulatory requirements are met at our client’s testing sites. You’ll be responsible for ensuring equipment is maintained to the highest level as well as taking part in fault-finding activities and equipment upgrades. Your core focus will be leading the assessment, commissioning and maintenance of either mechanical or electrical equipment.

Responsibilities include:

• Leading on the assessment, specification, design and commissioning of electrical/mechanical systems
• Undertaking planned and corrective maintenance activities
• Maintaining drawings and documentation associated with equipment
• Ensuring equipment complies with industry regulations
• Planning new and existing test cell installations and assessing for safety
• Developing a preventative and corrective maintenance program for infrastructure
• Supporting the testing cites by leading on activities around commissioning mechanical and electrical systems
• Leading on health and safety assessments
• Implementing health and safety control measures
• Producing technical reports
• Communicating complex issues to other business stakeholders
• Providing guidance and training to other team members
• Delivering projects and tasks to schedule, quality and cost requirements

The requirements

You’ll have a strong technical understanding of and experience in powertrain testing facilities. Other requirements include:

• Degree-level education in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering
• A strong track record in an aligned role
• Able to assess and design electrical or mechanical systems
• Knowledge of powertrain testing equipment
• Demonstrable track record planning and implementing preventative and corrective maintenance procedures
• Able to fault find confidently in mechanical and electrical systems
• Knowledge of building test cell infrastructure
• Good knowledge of LV and ELV designs and applications
• Knowledge of EV battery systems desirable
• Comfortable owning and delivering on projects
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment
• Analytical and able to confidently solve problems
• Able to drive continuous improvement
• Organised and meticulous with a strong attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
