Do you have a strong technical knowledge of EV powertrains? Our client is investing in a significant new facility that will double its powertrain test offerings, cementing its position as the market leader. As a result, they’re expanding their EV engineering team in Milton Keynes and are looking for an EV Powertrain Test Engineer to support this continued growth.

They aim to provide the very best in testing and quality assurance to companies across the world which they are achieving through their extensive testing capabilities and facilities. One of their core markets is the testing of parts for automotive OEMs and tier suppliers, testing combustion engines, powertrains and more. They are incredibly well respected in the powertrain industry, and this is an area of huge growth for the company.

 

The role 

As an EV Powertrain Test Engineer, you’ll interpret customer project requirements and carry out test and development activities. You will support the mechanical and electrical installation of automotive AC motors and power inverters and the development of an EV powertrain test safety strategy. You’ll make sure that projects meet their targets and become a true expert on EV powertrain testing! 

Responsibilities include: 

  • Completing test instructions 

  • Installing, calibrating, and validating data measurement  

  • Debugging complex electronic systems 

  • Delivering projects to schedule, cost, and quality 

  • Liaising with stakeholders in a professional manner always 

  • Helping to implement and follow safe systems of work  

The requirements 

You will be an expert on EV powertrains. Other requirements include… 

  • Engineering Degree, preferably in an electrical or automotive discipline 

  • Strong track record with hybrid system test operations 

  • Knowledge of AC and DC electrical systems 

  • Strong technical understanding of EV powertrains (including batteries and hybrid systems) 

  • Able to interpret technical drawings 

  • Adaptable and able to work autonomously  

  • Strong H&S awareness and understanding  

  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) 

  • Motivated and a self-starter 

  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail 

  • Able to drive continuous improvement
