With over 70 years of experience, our client provides expertise in the electrification portfolio, in engineering and simulation as well as testing and the adoption of ADAS. They are committed to improving the performance of traditional powertrains and helping OEMs develop zero-impact emission mobility solutions. They continue to gather new and valuable insights from data intelligence to develop engineers, same time and reduce costs.  

 

The role 

As Engineering Director, you will be responsible for providing a practical and cost-effective technical service to the company. You will develop smart solutions that minimize project risk and lead projects. You will ensure workflow is maximized through consultations with customers to identify the optimal solutions.  

Responsibilities include: 

  • Defining strategy and solutions to propose and guide customers at all levels

  • Ensuring company targets are met  

  • Building relationships with internal and external stakeholders 

  • Managing the Design Team to ensure the level of service is provided  

  • Providing feedback to improve engineering solutions 

  • Leading the development and appraisal of staff   

  • Ensuring company targets and deadlines are met for every project

  • Implement new ideas and methods to seek ways to improve contribution and enhance the reputation of the company

 

The requirements 

You’ll have extensive powertrain and engineering knowledge with a specific skill in definition of testing solution. Other requirements include: 

  • Qualified to minimum bachelor degree in a related subject 

  • Understanding of the automotive industry standards and regulations 

  • Management experience is required  

  • Experience in powertrain engine, transmission, and driveline control systems 

  • Knowledge about vehicle dynamics and powertrain architecture beneficial 

  • Thorough understanding of commercial aspects of a consultancy business  

  • Able to present technical design elements to customers 

  • Strong attitude to take risks and responsibilities  

  • Open and curious mind  

  • Exceptional communication skills (written and verbal) 

  • Strong leadership skills 

  • Able to define strategy and solutions  

  • Experience of producing engineering drawings for production 

  • Strong computer literacy skills (including Microsoft Office)
