Job description

Our client is currently seeking a talented Electrical Transmission and Distribution Engineer to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity to join one of the UK’s oldest and most advanced Systems Integrators, working with organisations such as National Grid and major Power Stations to upgrade the national infrastructure.

The role 

As an Electrical Transmission and Distribution Engineer, you’ll focus on accelerating the expansion of our client’s Protection and Control portfolio into new markets by acting as a trusted advisor to customers, identifying their objectives and translating this back to the business. You’ll play a valuable role in closing the bid process by bringing your expertise to provide technical support to customers and design compelling solutions that align with their requirements. You’ll play a primary role in identifying suppliers for testing, site installation and commissioning systems to ensure operational excellence for the customer base. 

Other responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining high level knowledge of the latest technologies by liaising with providers  

  • Preparing cost estimates and managing enquiries 

  • Supporting account managers, sales teams and partners  

  • Delivering compelling proposals and technical documentation

  • Coordinating and scheduling resources in collaboration with other departments

The requirements

The ideal candidate will have extensive (10+ years’) experience in Protection and Control software, hardware or electrical background. A passion for developments in new technologies, with a demonstrable background of success in solution delivery, is crucial to this role. Other requirements include:

  • Engineering degree, ideally in Chemical Engineering

  • Detailed understanding of Energy sector standards and engineering processes 

  • Familiar with common industrial protocols

  • Comfortable with presenting technical solutions to customers 

  • High level commercial acumen with experience of Tendering 

  • Able to build strong, professional relationships with stakeholders

  • Excellent communication and articulation skills (both written and verbal)

  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment

  • Highly organised with excellent organisational skills

  • Flexible and willing to travel
